Ultimate 4x4 DIY Ambulance Conversion


Tom is a true adventurer that wanted to build his end-all camper conversion.


The truck was originally purchased by Yellowstone National Park. He purchased it with less than 15,000 miles on the odometer. Ambulances are made of very high quality and the wiring is top-notch. Built-in storage everywhere. There are rear heat and a/c, an inverter, powered vent, fan, lights everywhere, and plenty of built-in cabinetry if one wants to use it. There are many other options like a backup camera, 50-gallon fuel tank, rear air suspension,


The Ambulance camper is based on a Chevrolet C4500 Kodiak 4×4.

Duramax 6.6 liter V8 diesel engine

5 speed Allison Automatic transmission.

12mpg including highway, city, offroad,

Produces about 450 hp

Factory 4×4 with a transfer case for low and high.

Front hubs are manual locking.
